Purchasing Agent (Full-Time, On-Site – Holdingford, MN)
Job Overview
The Purchasing Agent sources and procures materials, components, and services to support production, customer orders, and overall operations. This role ensures reliable supply, cost efficiency, accurate data, and strong vendor relationships while supporting planning, scheduling, and inventory accuracy. Qualifications
Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, or related field. 2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing. Strong negotiation skills and experience with ERP/MRP and Microsoft Excel. Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple priorities. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with stainless steel fabrication or equipment manufacturing. Knowledge of BOM structures and engineering change processes. Familiarity with ISO or supplier quality systems. Key Responsibilities
Source, negotiate, and purchase materials and services from approved suppliers. Build and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, and on‑time delivery. Monitor supplier performance and address issues proactively. Support vendor contracts, compliance, and outsourced manufacturing partnerships. Inventory & Materials Management
Maintain optimal inventory levels using ERP min/max settings. Ensure ERP item accuracy and resolve inventory discrepancies. Coordinate material needs with production, engineering, and receiving teams. Planning & Scheduling Support
Align purchasing with production schedules and forecasts. Identify and resolve potential material shortages or supply risks. Forecast raw material needs based on demand and job schedules. Cost & Data Management
Track cost‑saving initiatives and procurement KPIs. Maintain accurate pricing, vendor data, and lead times. Assist with annual budget forecasting. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Provide accurate material costs for quotes and BOMs. Participate in Sales, Production, and Engineering meetings. Support supplier selection for new components and materials. Pay
