Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Manager to help oversee daily operations at our thrift store. This role supports the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, assisting customers, and ensuring the store is organized, welcoming, and running efficiently. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager with daily store operations
- Supervise and support retail staff and volunteers
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer concerns
- Help manage donations, sorting, pricing, and merchandising of items
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and safety standards
- Assist with scheduling and staff training
- Monitor inventory levels and help manage stock rotation
- Support sales goals and store promotions
- Assist with opening and closing the store, including cash handling
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- 1–3 years of retail experience preferred
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is a plus
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment
- Basic computer and cash register/POS experience
- Ability to lift up to 30–40 lbs. and stand for extended periods
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in thrift, resale, or nonprofit retail
- Merchandising or visual display experience
- Problem-solving and team leadership abilities
