News Production Assistant
San Diego, CA | Full Time
COMPENSATION: 50,000.00 - 55,000.00
Summary
The Production Assistant (PA) supports the daily production of our newscasts serving the San Diego, El Centro, and Central Coast markets. This role combines editorial content production with hands-on technical support in studio and field operations.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, thrives under deadline pressure, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced live news environment.
Essential Functions
Content Production & Editing
- Edit news packages, VOs, SOTs, and other editorial content for daily newscasts.
- Produce and edit headlines, teases, and special segments.
- Assist in the creation and editing of news promotional spots (promos).
- Organize and manage content within the newsroom system (Bitcentral)
- Roll video using Bitcentral during live broadcasts.
- Operate audio in the production control room.
- Serve as fill-in Technical Director when needed.
- Operate studio cameras for live and recorded productions.
- Serve as a field photographer/camera operator when required.
- Assist with basic field production logistics during news coverage.

- Previous newsroom experience or education in communications, broadcast production,
- or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in non-linear editing systems (Adobe Premiere or similar preferred).
- Experience with Bitcentral is a plus
- Basic knowledge of audio board operation and production switchers.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
