Sr. UI/UX Architect
Contract role
Location: Washington, DC, Onsite

Job Description
Client is seeking a Sr. UI/UX Architect to define and lead the next generation of our enterprise digital experience. This is a high-impact, strategic role responsible for the governance, architecture, and scalability of front-end standards across the entire organization. You will bridge the gap between high-fidelity Figma designs and production-grade Angular applications, owning the evolution of a unified Design System built on Tailwind CSS and PrimeNG. As the primary authority on UI patterns, you will ensure that every application-whether mobile or desktop-adheres to strict standards for performance, responsiveness, and WCAG accessibility, while mentoring development teams to achieve a consistent, world-class user experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enterprise Standards & Governance: Define, document, and own the enterprise UI architecture and design patterns; establish governance practices to prevent design divergence and ensure long-term scalability.
  • Design System Ownership: Lead the evolution of the Client UI design system, meticulously managing component behaviors, variants, states, and theming.
  • Front-End Architecture: Establish core architectural patterns, including application structure, modular routing strategies, and the creation of shared UI libraries.
  • Figma-to-Code Translation: Partner with UX Designers to translate Figma mocks into reusable, scalable, and production-ready UI components.
  • Mobile-First Strategy: Drive a "Mobile-First" and responsive design philosophy, ensuring seamless behavior across all device breakpoints and screen sizes.
  • Technical Stack Leadership: Architect layouts using Tailwind CSS integrated with PrimeNG, defining standards for spacing, typography, and utility-first styling.
  • Quality & Accessibility: Ensure 100% compliance with WCAG accessibility standards and maintain high performance and usability benchmarks across all applications.
  • Mentorship & Review: Provide high-level UI guidance to engineering teams, conducting code reviews to ensure alignment with architectural standards.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Angular Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience with Angular (current versions) and a proven track record of architecting enterprise-scale, component-based UIs.
  • Styling & Frameworks: Expert-level proficiency in Tailwind CSS and its integration with UI component libraries like PrimeNG or similar (Material, Kendo).
  • Design System Management: Previous experience defining and maintaining shared UI libraries or enterprise design systems is essential.
  • Core Web Tech: Advanced knowledge of TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS/SCSS, with a focus on writing clean, maintainable, and semantic code.
  • Accessibility Expert: Solid understanding of WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and the technical implementation of accessible ARIA patterns.
  • Responsive Design: Mastery of responsive, mobile-first design patterns and cross-browser/cross-device compatibility.
  • Architectural Mindset: Strong decision-making skills regarding front-end structure, state management, and performance optimization.
  • Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence both technical developers and creative designers.
