We are looking for a **bold, decisive, digital‐first newsroom leader** to run our nightside operation in **Huntsville, Alabama**, one of the fastest‐growing and most dynamic cities in the Southeast. As **Evening Executive Producer**, you will be the **driving force behind our most competitive newscasts**, owning editorial decisions across broadcast, digital, and social platforms. You are the person in charge when the pressure is highest—breaking news, severe weather, and major community events. You set the tone, raise the bar, and demand excellence. This role is the **heartbeat of the nightside newsroom**. **What You’ll Do** **Own the Editorial Mission*** Lead all evening newscasts with a **digital‐first, audience‐focused mindset*** Set the editorial agenda and aggressively pursue stories that matter and perform across platforms* Ensure every newscast is urgent, relevant, and competitive* **Lead Breaking News & Severe Weather*** Serve as the **primary editorial decision‐maker** during breaking news and severe weather* Make fast, confident calls under extreme deadline pressure* Coordinate crews, producers, reporters, and digital teams for seamless, wall‐to‐wall coverage* **Drive Multi‐Platform Content*** Push content beyond the broadcast—social, web, mobile, and streaming are not optional* Maximize reach, engagement, and impact through smart digital execution* Collaborate closely with digital leaders to extend the life and visibility of nightside content* **Coach, Challenge, and Develop Talent*** Lead, mentor, and hold nightside producers and reporters accountable* Critique scripts, rundowns, and shows with a focus on strong writing, storytelling, and pacing* Build a culture of urgency, innovation, and continuous improvement* **Maintain High Standards*** Review scripts, teases, rundowns, and graphics for accuracy, fairness, ethics, and brand consistency* Protect the station’s credibility while pushing creative boundaries* **Operational Leadership*** Manage nightside workflows, scheduling, and coverage plans* Fill in on newscast production when necessary* Conduct performance reviews and contribute to newsroom leadership initiatives* **What We’re Looking For*** **Experience:** Minimum 5 years in television news producing or newsroom operations; executive producing or management experience strongly preferred* **Leadership:** Proven ability to lead teams, make tough calls, and thrive in high‐pressure environments* **News Judgment:** Sharp editorial instincts and a commitment to ethical, impactful journalism* **Digital First:** Deep understanding of digital, social, and audience engagement strategies* **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Broadcasting, or related field (or equivalent experience)* **Schedule:** Ability to work a true nightside schedule, including evenings and late nights* **Why This Job Matters** At Nexstar, winning matters.
