Join Yolo County Children's Alliance (YCCA) as a Grant & Contract Specialist, a key role responsible for managing grants and contracts, coordinating proposal development, and supporting communications that highlight YCCA's impact in the community.
This role is ideal for someone who can manage complex funding requirements while keeping projects organized, compliant, and moving forward. You will work closely with program managers, finance staff, and leadership to ensure grant deliverables, reporting, and budgets stay on track while helping identify new funding opportunities that support YCCA's mission of strengthening families.
In addition to grant management, this role supports organizational communications and fundraising initiatives by helping translate program outcomes into compelling stories for newsletters, social media, and donor engagement.
What You'll Do Manage Grants & Contracts Lifecycle
Oversee a portfolio of approximately 40 grants and contracts, tracking reporting deadlines, deliverables, budgets, amendments, and compliance requirements
Maintain organized grant records, proposal files, and contract documentation across shared systems and databases
Research and evaluate new funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporate funders
Coordinate proposal development including timelines, attachments, exhibits, and budgets
Collaborate with program managers, finance staff, and leadership to prepare strong, data-driven proposals
Monitor grant deliverables, reporting schedules, and compliance requirements
Work with the Finance Department to track budgets and prepare invoices and financial reports
Prepare grant updates and summaries for organizational leadership and the Board of Directors
Support program managers in understanding contract deliverables and tracking program outcomes
Serve as liaison between funders, community partners, and internal teams to ensure clear communication and accountability
Support Communications & Community Events
Draft and schedule content for social media platforms
Help produce the organization's monthly newsletter
Collect impact stories, testimonials, and program highlights for communications and grant reporting
Assist with fundraising campaigns including Giving Tuesday, Big Day of Giving, and End-of-Year Giving
Assist with sponsorship outreach and coordination for YCCA community and fundraising events
Help manage logistics, materials, and communications related to events
What We're Looking For Must Have
5+ years of experience in grant writing, grant or contract management, project management, or related work
Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing grant proposals and reports
Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
Experience collaborating across departments and with external partners
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Experience with Adobe, Canva, or similar design/communications tools
Nice to Have
Bachelor's degree in public administration, nonprofit management, communications, or related field
Knowledge of social service programs or Family Resource Centers
Familiarity with nonprofit budgeting or grant financial reporting
Understanding of trauma-informed care or the Five Protective Factors framework
Familiarity with Yolo County community organizations, government agencies, or funding landscape
County or State Required Documentation:
Due to the nature of this role that may involve interaction with youth or require YCCA meet certain guidelines stipulated in federal and state funding, a fingerprint and background check is required.
