Job Opportunity BHSI has an exciting opportunity for an Inland Marine Builders Risk Underwriter to join our US‑based team. The role is based in Chicago but is flexible to other BHSI offices, including New York City, Boston, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. Join us in the Marine team and work with a highly collaborative and close‑knit underwriting team in a great environment to grow your underwriting career.

Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and continue to build the Builders Risk line within the Inland Marine book of business, working closely with our Builders Risk Inland Marine leader based in Chicago;

Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships independently and in conjunction with other BHSI product lines;

Work in a fast‑paced environment, multitask, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

3–10+ years P&C insurance underwriting experience;

Experience with Inland Marine lines and a background in Builders Risk underwriting strongly preferred;

Strong existing broker relationships;

Experience and strong understanding of policy forms, including broker manuscripts and AAIS;

Experience marketing to specialized brokers;

Strong collaboration and team‑building skills;

Must be entrepreneurial and a self‑starter;

Strong communication skills including advanced negotiation, communications, and presentation experience.

Compensation The base salary range for this position in Chicago is $85,000.00 to $140,000.00, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation is determined by relevant skills, location, and experience. Note: Compensation will be commensurate with experience. This job description is not intended to be all‑inclusive.
