Montessori Educational Assistant

to support our 3–6 community. This role is part of a collaborative team of five Educational Assistants who guide kindergarten students through the afternoon portion of their day and provide classroom support across our ten Montessori 3–6 classrooms. This role requires strong behavior management skills, patience, and the ability to support children during multiple transitions throughout the afternoon. Responsibilities: Supervise and guide a group of kindergarten students during afternoon routines- lunch in the cafeteria, recess, and specials rotations. Support students in developing independence, responsibility, and respectful behavior in shared spaces. Manage transitions between activities and locations in a calm, organized manner. Use positive behavior guidance strategies to support student success and well-being. Provide additional support in Montessori 3–6 classrooms during the afternoon- assist teachers with classroom routines, student supervision, and small-group support. Help maintain an orderly, safe, and respectful Montessori learning environment. Work closely with a team of five Educational Assistants who each lead a kindergarten cohort. Participate in weekly team meetings with the Coordinator of Student Support to collaborate, problem-solve, and strengthen behavior support strategies. Communicate effectively with Montessori faculty and leadership regarding student needs and classroom support. Sub as needed Attend kindergarten field trips throughout the school year. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree; Ohio Teaching License or Non-Tax Certification Experience working in early childhood setting preferred Experience with positive behavior management and classroom supervision Knowledge of child development and familiarity with the Montessori approach Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and program Ability to routinely interact with children on the floor, move furniture in the environment and sustain long hours of active work Ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively both verbally and written Ability to maintain emotional control under stress Intellectual curiosity and commitment to personal & professional growth Promotes and adheres to the Leaders and Character framework
