Description The Kentucky Horse Park is seeking qualified applicants for the position of KHP Marketing Specialist. The chosen candidate’s primary responsibility will be to assist the Tourism Marketing Specialist Supervisor at the Kentucky Horse Park. The KHP Marketing Specialist is an entry‑level position assisting in the production of tourism advertising and/or travel promotion material for the Kentucky Horse Park.
Located within minutes of downtown Lexington, KY, the Kentucky Horse Park is a 1,224‑acre working horse farm, equine theme park, and internationally renowned equine competition facility. Founded in 1978, the Park is owned and operated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and attracts 1 million visitors from around the world annually. The Park also boasts a 260‑site campground and is home to the International Museum of the Horse, a Smithsonian affiliate.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of marketing, public relations, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with planning, creating, and scheduling social media content for Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Content created requires photography, video, and video editing.
Assist with updating kyhorsepark.com with current information, upcoming events, and relevant photos.
Assist with inquiries submitted on the "Contact Us" page on the park’s website and messages received on social media.
Assist in planning and designing promotional materials in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Capture and edit photos and metadata in Adobe Lightroom.
Assist with GovDelivery to write press releases and design monthly newsletters.
Attend community events to promote the Kentucky Horse Park.
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills And Abilities
Proficient with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Photography and writing experience is a plus.
Be able to multi‑task and solve complex issues quickly and effectively.
Be able to work effectively with other departments.
Experience in the horse industry is a plus, but not a requirement.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
Experience, Training, or Skills: NONE.
Substitute Education for Experience: NONE.
Substitute Experience for Education: Experience in marketing, advertising sales, and/or copywriting or promotional sales will substitute for the required college on a year‑for‑year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year‑for‑year basis.
