Job Summary College Medical Center Phoenix is searching for a Director of Quality and Risk. The Director of Quality and Risk administers, directs, and coordinates activities of the Quality Management Department and oversees responsibility for Case Management, Customer Service, OB Outreach, and Lean. Responsible for day‑to‑day operations of the Quality Management Department, including but not limited to the Medical Staff Performance Improvement activities, core measure compliance, risk management, and directing the accreditation process. Oversees the recommendation, development, and implementation of policies and procedures for the respective responsible areas, and keeps the Chief Executive Officer informed of both the progress and potential problems.

Job Qualifications

Master’s prepared in Nursing or related field preferred OR

10 years of previous leadership experience in an acute care setting, with 5 years of experience in a leadership role in Quality Management and/or Performance Improvement

A Level One Fingerprint Card is required

Demonstrates leadership abilities, ability to work under stressful situations. Possess good oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates interpersonal relationships in a manner that enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution, and facilitates staff development.

CPR and CPI are required within one (1) week of hire.

Job‑Specific Responsibilities

Oversee the implementation of the Performance Improvement Program for the hospital

Assist all departments in developing meaningful criteria to evaluate the quality and appropriateness of care provided

Develop and recommend corrective action plans when indicator measurements fall below thresholds or exceed benchmarks

Lead and be responsible for Medical Staff Performance Improvement activities in the facility

Provide oversight of the Lean Program within the organization

Act as a liaison for all departments and services related to Performance Improvement and Risk Management

Ensure continual growth and improvement of Performance Improvement and Risk Management processes, staying current with trends and best practices in healthcare

Demonstrate professional management of department personnel

Promote professional growth and development of staff by identifying needs, sponsoring training, encouraging formal and continuing education, and evaluating outcomes

Counsel employees, develop staff, and use the disciplinary process when appropriate

Develop, implement, and continually evaluate all components of the Performance Improvement and Risk Management Programs for the facility

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CMC Phoenix roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CMC Phoenix in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
