With sustained expansion, the business requires a proven specialist who can elevate client outcomes, deepen market engagement and contribute to long‑term strategic ambitions.
Your new role Lead a significant commercial insurance portfolio, ensuring excellent client outcomes, strong retention and consistent growth. You will enhance coverage and placement strategies, expand client share‑of‑wallet, and drive targeted new business. Working closely with senior leaders and broking teams, you will influence market strategy, negotiate with insurers and agencies, and contribute to an uplift in technical standards across the function.
Key Responsibilities Portfolio & Client Management
Steward a substantial commercial portfolio, delivering high retention and measurable client value.
Identify coverage improvements, placement enhancements and broader risk management opportunities.
Plan and execute renewals end‑to‑end, ensuring timely documentation, clear recommendations and proactive client communication.
Market Engagement & Placement
Build effective relationships with insurers, underwriting agencies and specialist markets.
Negotiate competitive terms, structure placements and resolve complex queries, collaborating closely with internal claims and broking teams.
Maintain a forward view of market conditions, advising clients on implications and options.
Growth & Business Development
Drive targeted new business outcomes through prospecting, referrals and strategic initiatives.
Increase client share‑of‑wallet via cross‑sell and up‑sell opportunities aligned to client needs.
Contribute ideas and input to growth plans, tenders and client value propositions.
Leadership, Coaching & Collaboration
Provide technical guidance and informal coaching to Account Executives and Assistants.
Promote a high‑performance, collaborative culture and support continuous improvement across workflows and processes.
Act as an escalation point on complex matters, balancing commercial outcomes with client advocacy.
Governance, Compliance & Professional Standards
Uphold all regulatory and organisational requirements, maintaining appropriate accreditation and CPD.
Adhere to internal policies and contribute to procedural robustness and risk management across the team.
Champion quality, accuracy and consistency in all client and market interactions.
What you’ll need to succeed
A minimum of 5+ years in Account Management within commercial, mid‑market, or corporate clients.
Deep technical knowledge of commercial insurance and risk advisory.
Strong relationships with insurers, agencies and specialist markets.
Excellent negotiation, analytical and problem‑solving capability.
Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders and support junior team members.
Commitment to compliance, accreditation and ongoing professional development (e.g., Tier 1 / RG146).
