Job Overview
The Inside Sales Rep supports overall sales growth plan by increasing sales and gross margin while providing enhanced customer service to customers. Responsible for handling assigned sales accounts by anticipating customer needs, managing sales margins and entering customer orders. Collaborate with the sales team to achieve UNFI’s Building out the Store objective.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for managing an assigned book of business.
Responsible for meeting or exceeding established sales goals.
Solicit and process customer orders.
Ensure customers receive timely and accurate information on product availability, quality and price.
Suggest substitutions to customers for items ordered that are unavailable (or do not meet quality expectations) while encouraging customers to purchase maximum possible amount of product conducive to their business.
Respond to customer phone inquiries and ensure that customer needs are resolved in an appropriate and timely manner.
Submit credit requests per policy.
Identify, qualify and make phone solicitations of potential new customers.
Support sales activities with Quality Control, Transportation, Accounting and Purchasing to ensure customer satisfaction.
Inform customers of company products, programs and promotions and verify inventory levels for promotions.
Attend and participate in sales meetings, sales training, and product information sessions.
Work with Account Manager, Sales Consultants and Sales Managers to develop growth strategies, create promotions and increase business within assigned account base.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Education/ Certifications
Associate degree or equivalent experience.
Experience
1+ years sales experience preferred.
System implementation experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
Ability to build relationships with customers and align with leadership's goals and direction.
Ability to interpret data and using technology (Microsoft suite, SV Harbor, Tableau) to support business objectives.
Ability to, with leadership guidance, execute a sales plan and achieve sales objectives and ability to identify product/service sales opportunities for core accounts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organization skills with ability to multi-task.
Ability to resolve customer related issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
Work Environment Remote Role
This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
Physical Environment/Demands Office Roles
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
Incumbents may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
Incumbents may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment during a normal workday.
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
