Albany Medical College is seeking a Director of Arrhythmia Services to lead an established electrophysiology program serving the NY Capital Region. This position offers an opportunity to build and expand a comprehensive electrophysiology program with a focus on innovation, clinical excellence, education, mentorship, and research initiatives. Academic appointment will be Associate Professor or Professor, based on qualifications and experience.
We’re growing our team of 18 cardiologists and 5 advanced practice providers to meet increasing demand. Albany Medical College, founded in 1839, is one of the oldest private medical schools in the country and home to the Capital Region’s only academic tertiary care hospital.
Key Responsibilities
Lead clinical and strategic direction for the Electrophysiology section with attention to program growth, quality, and patient outcomes.
Develop an EP fellowship program in collaboration with division and institutional GME leadership.
Develop new clinical pathways, services, and outreach strategies to expand procedural and referral volume.
Collaborate with faculty across advanced heart failure, interventional cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and cardiovascular imaging.
Support education and development of fellows, residents, and advanced practice providers.
Collaborate with institutional research leadership to expand clinical trials and investigator-initiated studies in electrophysiology.
Mentor junior faculty and trainees with an emphasis on scholarly productivity and career development.
Advance academic, clinical, and teaching missions of the Division of Cardiology.
Qualifications
MD/DO (or equivalent) with board certification in Cardiovascular Disease and/or Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Fellowship training in clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
Experience working in an academic medical center with evidence of leadership, program development, and research involvement.
Record of teaching, mentorship, and scholarly achievement aligned with appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across specialties.
Eligible for medical licensure in the state of New York.
