About the Role The Event Director for our
Technology Portfolio
will own the business performance of
Geo Week
and
Commercial UAV Expo , two of the most important B2B events in the geospatial and drone industries. Reporting directly to the VP of the portfolio, you will set the growth strategy for both events, partner with the VP to develop and execute a digital strategy that deepens engagement with these industries year‑round, and lead a cross‑functional team in delivering consistently excellent outcomes for attendees, exhibitors, and partners.
What you’ll do:
Own the P&Ls for Geo Week and Commercial UAV Expo end to end, managing revenue, margin, and cost structures, and regularly reporting financial performance to senior leadership
Set and deliver against annual revenue, margin, and growth targets, identifying opportunities to expand revenue streams including sponsorship, exhibitor sales, registration, and ancillary products
Develop and execute a bold, multi‑year strategic plan to make both events must‑attend destinations in their respective industries, including identifying new growth opportunities in adjacent markets and partnerships
Lead all aspects of event execution: floor plan strategy, programming design, exhibitor and sponsor experience, attendee journey, and operational logistics
Develop a high‑performing team, empowering ownership and career growth while championing a data‑informed, collaborative culture
Partner with the VP to co‑develop and execute a digital strategy that extends community engagement year‑round through newsletters, webinars, online communities, and data tools
Establish feedback loops through surveys, advisory boards, and customer interviews to continuously improve event design and strengthen community connections across both industries
What you’ll bring:
8‑10+ years of progressive experience in B2B event management, with demonstrated P&L ownership
Proven ability to manage event budgets, own financial outcomes, and use data to forecast and drive profitability
Track record of developing and executing multi‑year growth strategies for events or portfolios
Experience contributing to or co‑leading digital content, community, or media strategies, and understanding how digital and live events reinforce each other
Experience building feedback systems and translating customer insights into event improvements
Proven experience directly managing sales and marketing teams, including setting revenue goals, driving sales performance, and overseeing marketing strategy and execution
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and networking skills; ability to build strong working relationships with senior leadership
Travel: Frequent travel required on an annual basis.
