About Thompson
Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky. Description The Program Director, Licensing/Foster Care oversees licensing, training and foster care operations, ensuring programs meet targeted outcomes and achieve financial success while maintaining a trauma‑informed culture.
Responsibilities
Monitor data at a high level and take necessary action around census, referrals, productivity and finances.
Establish and model a trauma‑informed culture and drive best clinical practices throughout the organization.
Prioritize the self‑care and wellness of direct‑care staff for program supervisors.
Work through leaders to ensure their programs achieve targeted outcomes, people and financial success.
Oversee the long‑term planning and strategy for Licensing/Training and Foster Care.
Set the climate and communicate with staff.
Ensure programs have the resources needed for success.
Select, coach, assess and develop staff.
Contribute to organizational design and structure.
Develop and cultivate new business opportunities for short‑ and long‑term benefit.
Link direct reports’ objectives to overall business strategy.
Provide continual coaching and development for staff.
Use performance assessments constructively to improve performance.
Balance tasks and resources among teams.
Coordinate foster parent events.
Coordinate local foster parent recruitment events.
Maintain program licensure as a Child Placing Agency (CPA).

Meeting credentialing, licensing and privileging standards related to the program(s) led
Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field (required)

Verified 3 years of successful previous leadership experience
Verified 3–5 years of leadership experience in licensing/training and/or foster care
Demonstrated capacity and coachability for future growth as a leader
