Knudson Lumber is looking for a friendly and motivated Customer Service Representative to join our team. This position plays an important role in creating a positive shopping experience for every customer while helping maintain a clean, organized, and efficient sales floor.

As a valued team member of Knudson Lumber, your number one priority will always be making sure our customers receive the best customer service. All team members must greet customers with a warm smile, offer assistance, or guide them to the most appropriate team member. Answering incoming phone calls and directing them appropriately is also part of the responsibility.

CUSTOMERS ALWAYS COME FIRST – all other duties follow customer service. This is not an all-encompassing job description. As a small company, each team member is expected to assist wherever necessary when asked by management or members of the leadership team.

Qualifications

Strong customer service skills and a positive, professional attitude

Ability to stand for extended periods (typically 6–9 hours) on a concrete floor

Ability to frequently lift 25–50 lbs

Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Comfortable using computers and point-of-sale systems

Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays

Organized and self-motivated with the ability to stay productive throughout the day

Willingness to learn about store products and the retail industry

Responsibilities Customer Service

Assist customers in person and on the phone by answering questions and helping them find the products they need

Suggest add-on items that help customers complete their projects

Process purchases, returns, and special orders using the store’s point-of-sale system

Inform customers about promotions, sales, and new products

Sales Floor Operations

Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting sales floor

Restock shelves and ensure merchandise is properly faced and organized

Walk aisles regularly to assist customers

Help load products into customer vehicles when needed

Store Support

Cut keys and mix paint for customers

Assist other team members with daily store tasks when needed

Remain aware of store activity and help maintain a safe shopping environment

Loss Prevention & Safety

Remain alert for shoplifting or suspicious activity and follow store policy when reporting concerns

Follow all company safety rules and store policies

Help maintain a clean and safe workplace for customers and employees

Professional Development

Continue expanding knowledge of store products and departments

Learn additional retail operations such as inventory procedures and merchandising

Contribute ideas that improve customer experience and store operations
