We're seeking an innovative Senior Visual UX Designer to help expand Alexa's capabilities and enable people to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. In this role, you will blend visual and voice interfaces to help customers access the information and services they need, transforming everyday technology into intuitive, personal experiences.
Responsibilities
Lead the end‑to‑end design process for complex features and products, starting with early‑stage concepts that deepen stakeholders’ understanding of the customer experience.
Collaborate closely with engineering throughout execution and partner with designers across Alexa to adopt and extend existing design systems.
Create new patterns, uncover best practices, and contribute to Figma libraries, sharing learnings with the broader team.
Deliver production‑level, highly polished visual designs and assets with a sharp eye for typography, layout, motion, and detail.
Incorporate insights from Alexa research, conduct hallway testing, and run user research to inform and validate decisions.
Collaborate with peer designers, product and tech owners, marketing, solutions architects, and business development to keep the customer at the center of decision‑making.
A Day in the Life Support a product that is still early in its lifecycle: design net‑new concepts, conduct user research, and partner with solutions architects and tech teams to build prototypes. Operate with ownership and autonomy, balancing research, design, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Team Overview Working within the Devices & Services Experience Design (DxD) team, you’ll create meaningful hardware and software experiences across Amazon’s device portfolio—including Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, Alexa.com, and related mobile apps. The team blends design, product, and engineering to innovate experiences that enhance customer lives.
Basic Qualifications
7+ years of design experience
Available online portfolio
Experience collaborating with stakeholders to plan and execute strategic programs
Experience delivering design solutions for large‑scale, complex projects
Preferred Qualifications
Experience defining and maintaining design patterns and UX standards
Experience acquiring user data, conducting usability studies, and creating personas and journey maps
Experience designing in an agile development environment
Ability to read, understand, and consult on client‑side engineering to extend design systems
Advanced visual design skills with strong expertise in typography, layout, iconography, interaction, and visual systems across platforms
Location: San Francisco, CA (USA)
Base salary range: 156,400.00 – 211,600.00 USD annually
