Social Media Marketer
The Center for Free, Fair, and Accountable Democracy Inc., Washington, District of Columbia, United States
The Center for Free, Fair, and Accountable Democracy (CFFAD) is a small 501(c)(3) volunteer organization providing civic content for American adults. We focus on promoting accountable representation with civil liberties and rights. To do that, we create relevant and practical materials for civic education. All of our short courses have been reviewed by experts on the right and left. In addition, we conduct and share research on a particular audience of adults who are ambivalent about the merits of democracy relative to autocracy.
Role Description This is a part-time, volunteer position for a Social Media Marketer located anywhere in the United States. You will market our online educational resources to various adult audiences while also marketing our research to practitioners and donors. A special challenge will be to devise a way to catch and keep the attention of busy people with many competing distractions – and to do so with a small budget. A second challenge, that will come later, will be to adapt your marketing approach to a specific audience of U.S. adults who are ambivalent between democracy and autocratic alternatives. To do these things, you will collaborate with a small team, including a market researcher, a communications strategist, and a fundraiser.
Ideal for people who are retired, between jobs, want to keep their skills sharp, and want to contribute to democracy in the American republic.
We only need 5 hours a week, although you are welcome to contribute more! Your U.S. location is flexible, although easy access to the Washington, DC area would facilitate in-person consultations.
Ideal Qualifications
B.A. or better in Communications, Digital Marketing, Information Systems, Marketing, Social Media, or similar field;
Substantial and relevant experience with social media marketing for other organizations;
Good verbal and written communication skills;
Familiarity with a variety of social media marketing platforms; and
Experience with analytical tools to show monthly progress towards larger audience sizes, returning audience shares, audience engagement, conversions, and other indicators.
Bonus Points
Familiarity with researching specific market personas;
Experience developing messaging frameworks;
Prior experience in organizations providing civic education or adult education; and
Familiarity with IRS and state regulations on soliciting and non-partisan content.
