Description Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Ability to accurately identify and order parts based on customer requests.
Strong attention to detail for tax, freight, and special instructions.
Familiarity with reference sources related to parts sales.
Proficient in company computer systems and ordering processes.
Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualification(s):
Prior experience in parts sales or a similar role within the heavy equipment industry.
Knowledge of Caterpillar or similar machinery parts.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical or vocational training in automotive or heavy equipment parts preferred.
Serve customers by identifying parts needs and processing orders promptly.
Visualize and interpret customer requests accurately, including complex parts inquiries.
Manage automatic backorders and ensure correct processing.
Greet customers in person and by phone courteously and professionally.
Refer customers to appropriate departments when necessary.
Maintain knowledge of vendor items, mark-up, and freight charges.
Collaborate with co-workers and contribute to a positive team environment.
Leadership Responsibilities:
None; this is an individual contributor role.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience with heavy equipment parts sales.
Familiarity with vendor ordering systems and pricing structures.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Frequent use of computer systems and telephones.
Occasional lifting of parts up to 50 lbs.
Mental focus for accurate order entry and customer interaction.
Primarily indoors at a parts counter within a dealership setting.
Interaction with customers, vendors, and internal staff.
May involve occasional exposure to warehouse or shop environments.
Most work is conducted in a comfortable office environment but exposure to site conditions may also occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn in areas as required. Although the work usually is not considered inherently dangerous, employees must be careful while performing onsite services.
