Summary The Transactions Assistant – Real Estate works in collaboration with and supports the firm’s strategic initiatives. The role assists paralegals and attorneys by maintaining and organizing files, preparing documents, updating and maintaining databases, preparing closing books, obtaining information from internal and external sources, and performing other administrative tasks.

Location This position is located in our Washington D.C. office and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

Organize documents for attorney review.

Research public records using internal and public websites.

Assist with preparing binders, preparing closing books, making copies, entering data, and maintaining files.

Perform database research and data entry.

Obtain documents and other information from governmental agencies or public agencies.

Obtain information from accounting, timekeeping and attorneys for audit letter responses.

Assist paralegals and attorneys with mailings and filings.

Other duties.

Desired Skills Demonstrated basic proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and database experience. Office experience in a law firm environment supporting paralegals and/or attorneys preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with paralegals, attorneys and clients on a regular basis. Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills necessary to manage volumes of documents, binders, letters, charts, etc. Must have ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines.

Bachelor’s degree

Certificates

Paralegal certificate preferred

Physical Demands Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Work Environment The individual selected for this position may have the opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement comprising remote and in‑office work, with requirements coordinated with the hiring manager or supervisor and may be modified in the firm’s discretion in the future.

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $34.09 - $44.32 per hour depending on the candidate’s geographic market location. Non‑exempt positions will be paid on an hourly basis and paid overtime in accordance with applicable laws. Compensation offered will also depend on factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications.
