About The Role As a Community Porter at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, curb appeal, and overall appearance of the apartment community. The position is essential for enhancing resident satisfaction by ensuring that common areas, amenities, and outdoor spaces remain clean, safe, and welcoming. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in creating a well‑maintained environment, enjoys working independently, and thrives in an outdoor, hands‑on role. This role reports to our FLATZ 387 site in Jarrell, TX.
What You’ll Do
Maintain cleanliness of common areas including the leasing office, clubhouse, fitness center, laundry room, mail areas, and pool areas.
Conduct regular trash pickup on property grounds and around dumpsters to uphold a clean environment.
Sweep, pressure wash, and blow breezeways, sidewalks, stairwells, and parking lots to ensure safety and appearance.
Assist with basic landscaping tasks such as weeding, raking, and watering to enhance curb appeal.
Prepare vacant apartments for move‑in by removing trash, debris, and cleaning patios.
Support the maintenance team with minor tasks, including changing bulbs, unclogging drains, and event setups.
Report safety hazards, maintenance issues, or suspicious activity to appropriate personnel promptly.
Maintain and properly store tools and supplies to ensure readiness and safety.
Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices following regulatory and company policies.
Perform other duties as assigned to support community operations.
Who You Are
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in groundskeeping, janitorial services, or general maintenance is a plus.
Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and landscaping practices.
General handyman or maintenance abilities with tools and minor repairs.
Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment.
Good communication and interpersonal skills for professional interaction with residents and team members.
Dependable, punctual, and safety conscious.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Eligible to work in the United States.
Physical Abilities
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of items up to 50 lbs.
Use of manual and powered cleaning and landscaping equipment (e.g., blowers, pressure washers).
Physically capable of performing repetitive tasks and operating equipment outdoors.
Good visual acuity for reading screens and documents.

Compensation & Benefits Below is the expected base salary range for this position. This is a good‑faith estimate, and offers will be determined based on experience, education, skill set, and interview performance.
