Community Engagement Coordinator – $73,589 Salary + Amazing Benefits!
Location: 1307 S. 900 W., SLC, UT | Type: Full-Time | FLSA: Exempt

Utah Community Action is looking for an enthusiastic Community Engagement Coordinator to help grow our impact by securing funding, strengthening partnerships, and creating meaningful volunteer experiences. In this role, you’ll help power programs that support families and communities across Utah, especially our Head Start program.
What You’ll Do & What You Bring As our Community Engagement Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in expanding our mission through funding, partnerships, and community involvement. Your work will include:
Researching, writing, and submitting competitive grant proposals from local, state, federal, and corporate sources
Managing the full grant lifecycle—from research and proposal development to reporting and compliance
Maintaining the development calendar and tracking grant deadlines and deliverables
Coordinating volunteer engagement across the agency, including recruitment, onboarding, and training
Creating positive experiences for community groups, corporate teams, and individual volunteers
Supporting in‑kind donations for Head Start and agency‑wide initiatives
Introducing partners and volunteers to the mission and impact of Utah Community Action
Supervising the Events Specialist, interns, and volunteers

What You Bring
Proven success writing and managing grants
Knowledge of post‑award grant management
Experience coordinating volunteers or development initiatives
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Excellent storytelling, written, and verbal communication
Experience using databases or project tools such as NetSuite, OneCause, Asana, Bloomerang, or Signup
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across teams
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
2+ years of grant writing or similar experience
Basic accounting knowledge for grant budgeting
Experience overseeing volunteers
Valid driver’s license
Ability to pass background checks and meet Head Start health requirements
Preferred Head Start or Community Action experience and Grant Professional Certification.
Driver’s License, Insurability & Travel Requirements A valid, unrestricted driver’s license must be maintained, and the individual must remain eligible for vehicle insurance coverage. Travel may include the use of personal or agency vehicles for program‑related transportation.
Work Environment This role includes a mix of office work, community engagement, and occasional travel. Physical activity may include standing, walking, driving, bending, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
