Mercy St. Louis is seeking experienced Med Surg Registered Nurses with a passion for elevating the standard of care for women. Our Patient Population Includes:

NICU mothers

Post‑surgical patients (hysterectomy, breast reconstruction, uro‑gyn, cesarean complications)

Fetal demise patients

GI patients, including GI abdominal surgeries

Women’s Med Surg overflow

Previable moms with non‑pregnancy‑related complications

Qualifications Required Education

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associate’s Degree, Diploma, or BSN)

Licensure

Current RN license in the state of practice (or compact license, as applicable)

Must meet all state Board of Nursing requirements

Certifications

BLS through the American Heart Association (or completion within 30 days of hire)

One or more of the following may be required based on unit needs or obtained within departmental timelines:

ACLS

NRP

ENPC

TNCC

CPHON

OCN

PALS

PEARS

S.T.A.B.L.E.

C‑EFM

Other unit‑specific certifications as required

Physical Requirements

Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 lbs on a regular basis

Preferred education, licensure, and experience may be added per hiring manager need.

What You’ll Do As a Women’s Health/GYN RN, you will be a central part of our interdisciplinary care team, advocating for patients and delivering compassionate, evidence‑based care.

You will:

Partner with patients and families to make informed decisions about care

Assess, document, and develop individualized care plans

Perform thorough shift‑to‑shift and interdepartmental hand‑offs using patient safety tools (SBAR, bedside reporting, etc.)

Communicate effectively with physicians, multidisciplinary team members, patients, and families

Stay informed through unit huddles, emails, and ongoing communication

Participate in process improvement initiatives and performance development

Maintain required competencies, certifications, and continuing education

Use professional literature and evidence‑based practice to inform clinical decisions

Precept students or new coworkers as requested

Delegate to and guide unlicensed personnel and LPNs appropriately

Participate in hospital committees or special projects as assigned

Conduct patient rounding according to departmental guidelines

Utilize and interpret diagnostic, laboratory, and monitoring data

Fulfill call, weekend, or alternative shifts based on department needs

Perform other duties as assigned
