
Personal Injury Paralegal

Blankingship & Keith, PC, a 46 lawyer Fairfax City law firm, has an opportunity for a Paralegal with strong litigation, technical, and administrative skills to support our Personal Injury practice group. This position assists attorneys with cases from intake through final disposition.
The practice prides themselves on maintaining a collaborative team environment, handling a manageable caseload, and working on complex and unusual cases that make a significant difference in their clients’ lives. Their practice is not a high-volume assembly line of car crash cases. They value our paralegals’ insight and opinion on case selection, client relationship, case valuation, and other issues that deeply affect their practice.
Litigation responsibilities include assisting with all aspects of civil litigation including:
Drafting pleadings, complaints, and answers
Preparing, serving and responding to discovery
Issuing subpoenas and managing expert witness designations
Conducting focus groups and assisting with jury research and selection
Coordinating depositions and interviewing witnesses
Preparing trial exhibits and assisting with trial preparation
Organizing and maintaining case files
Obtaining and reviewing medical records and preparing summaries
Maintaining electronic files using the firm’s document management system
Paralegals are considered timekeepers and are expected to meet established billable hour goals and accurately track their time in the firm’s time and billing system
Qualified applicants must possess:
Minimum 5 years of experience in personal injury litigation
A paralegal certificate, or currently working toward certification
Strong communication, organizational, and client service skills
Excellent grammar and proofreading ability
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and Dropbox
Experience with e-filing, document management systems, and time and billing software
