Social Media & Community Coordinator

The Keep A Breast Foundation, San Diego, CA, United States

Keep A Breast Foundation | Part-Time, Non-Exempt Keep A Breast Foundation is a 25-year global nonprofit dedicated to breast cancer prevention and early detection among young people. Through art, education, and activism, we empower individuals to take control of their health and advocate for the environment we live in.

About the Role We're seeking a digitally-native Social Media & Community Coordinator to manage day-to-day social media operations and support our national Fit 4 Prevention fundraising campaign. This is an execution-focused role — you'll work against an established content strategy and bring our campaigns to life with fresh, on-brand content that genuinely resonates with Gen Z and Millennial audiences.

You’ll work directly with our Marketing Communications Director and collaborate with our Global Chief Creative Officer on larger campaigns as needed.

Key Responsibilities Social Media Management

Daily community management across Instagram (2 accounts), TikTok, and Facebook — responding to comments, DMs, and mentions within 24 hours

Content execution: create 8–12 social posts per week in total (video, graphics, carousels) following the content calendar and brand guidelines

Film and edit platform-native short‑form video (Reels, TikToks) that speaks to internet culture and current trends

Write engaging, on‑brand captions that drive action — app downloads, email signups, shop clicks, event participation

Social listening: stay on top of trends, viral moments, and cultural conversations relevant to our 25–40‑year‑old prevention and wellness audience

Monthly reporting on performance and insights

Influencer Marketing Support

Maintain a roster of aligned micro‑influencers and brand advocates

Coordinate outreach, content briefs, and deliverable tracking for influencer partnerships

Amplify and engage with influencer content across KAB platforms

Fit 4 Prevention Campaign Support

Research and pitch 50+ fitness studios and gyms nationwide to participate in our October fundraising campaign

Follow up with interested studios, provide toolkit materials, and answer questions

Create social media templates and graphics studios can use to promote their participation

Maintain outreach spreadsheet and report on the partnership pipeline

Content Creation & Brand Consistency

Maintain consistent tone across all platforms — educational but not preachy, empowering but not fear‑based

Use Figma templates and brand assets to create scroll‑stopping graphics

Collaborate with the Marketing Communications Director on campaign launches and key content moments

Who You Are

Internet‑native: you live online, understand meme culture, and know what makes content shareable vs. scroll‑past

A strong writer who can craft compelling captions, outreach emails, and CTAs that drive action

Comfortable filming and editing short‑form video on your phone

Deeply fluent across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook — you know what works on each platform

A self‑starter who can work independently, troubleshoot, and meet deadlines without hand‑holding

Detail‑oriented: you catch typos, maintain brand consistency, and deliver quality work

Genuinely aligned with breast cancer prevention, women's health, or nonprofit work

Preferred if you have: experience with Canva or Figma, social media management tools (Later, Meta Business Suite, TikTok Business Manager), cold outreach or influencer marketing, or previous work with nonprofits or mission‑driven brands.
