Position Overview The Senior Instructional Designer contributes the assessment of Operations learning needs through the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of team members. The Senior Instructional Designer has a strong knowledge and experience in Training Interventions and is responsible for performing specialized and project related duties within training. The person in this position works collaboratively at organizational and developmental levels to ensure that all training activities support the business goals.

This role is based in Thief River Falls or Bloomington, Minnesota, and will require a minimum of two days per week in the office and be available for projects in the office as needed. Travel required, at times, domestically and internationally.

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm

Responsibilities

Design, develop and evaluate programs that support organizational objectives and align with the organization's business goals

Research the latest trends in education and instructional design

Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts

Apply instructional design principles and adult learning theory to create engaging and interactive learning experiences

Effectively utilize current learning delivery platforms and tools to support training, including eLearning (Articulate), gamification, self‑paced, etc.

Conduct and/or collect research and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)

Collect data on training needs by interviews, workplace shadowing, and research training data

Track training outcomes and ensure alignment to the business objectives

Develop and drive cross‑functional goals and objectives by collaborating with internal departments to develop training materials that achieve defined learning objectives

Provide insight, facilitation, team development, whole systems analysis, process reengineering and learning and development services in consultation with Business Partners to implement training strategies/plans

Develop, revise, and implement procedures in relation to course content

Observe training program(s)/session(s) in real time for effectiveness and make changes based on corporate goals/mission

Provides coaching, and/or mentoring to peers, trainers, and business partners as appropriate

Advise relevant professionals on how to deliver training materials

Participate in special and cross‑functional projects and project teams

Support the International Training Teams/Offices as needed, answer questions, and elevate to Manager when appropriate

Seek continuous improvement strategies as they related to training outcomes

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Education, or a related field or equivalent, relevant work experience

3‑5 years of previous experience in instructional design, coursework development

Strong knowledge of curriculum/instructional design theory and learning principles, and training techniques

Experience in Articulate 360 and/or eLearning Software Platforms

Ability to effectively prioritize and deliver multiple projects

Ability to work cross functionally

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Electrical Component Distribution industry

Instructional Design Certification from an Accredited Institution

Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential

Association for Talent Development (ATD) certification

Strong knowledge of DigiKey brand and its principles

Tools/Systems/Software

Familiar with learning technologies and solutions (e.g. CRM, CSM, CMS, and LMS tools)

Physical Requirements

Work is primarily performed at a desk and/or in an office environment for 3/4 of the day and up

The office noise level in the work environment is typically moderate

Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen

Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body

Compensation The base pay range for this position is $33.25 to $45.75.
