The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for cultivating, stewarding, and growing a portfolio of individual donors in support of United Way of Wilson County’s mission. This position plays a key role in driving donor retention and acquisition through thoughtful relationship management, prospect research, pipeline development, and major gift cultivation. With a strong emphasis on personalized engagement and meaningful donor experiences, the Donor Relations Manager builds and sustains Leadership Circle, Tocqueville Society, multi-year, and planned giving support. This role works collaboratively with internal teams, volunteers, and community leaders to strengthen long-term philanthropic investment and deepen donor commitment to the community. Key Responsibilities

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship

Manage and grow a portfolio of individual donors, including leadership and major gift prospects. Develop and implement individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies. Ensure timely and meaningful donor acknowledgment, recognition, and impact reporting. Strengthen donor retention through consistent communication and relationship-building efforts. Leadership and Major Giving

Grow participation in Leadership Circle, Tocqueville Society, and other leadership giving programs. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors. Support the development of multi-year giving commitments and planned giving opportunities. Prospect Research and Pipeline Development

Conduct prospect research to identify new donor opportunities and upgrade potential. Maintain a robust donor pipeline and track engagement using the organization’s CRM system. Collaborate with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to set goals and strategies for donor growth. Donor Engagement and Experience

Create meaningful engagement opportunities that connect donors to United Way’s impact and mission. Coordinate donor meetings, tours, events, and small gatherings as appropriate. Partner with volunteers, board members, and community leaders in donor cultivation efforts. Collaboration and Administration

Work closely with the resource development, marketing, and program teams to align donor messaging and impact storytelling. Maintain accurate donor records, reports, and activity tracking. Support fundraising campaigns and special initiatives as assigned. Qualifications

Required Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of three years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or development, preferably in a nonprofit setting. Demonstrated success in building and maintaining donor relationships. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently. Proficiency with donor databases and Microsoft Office or similar tools. Preferred Experience with major gifts, leadership giving, or planned giving programs. Knowledge of the United Way network or community-based fundraising. Familiarity with rural or community-focused nonprofit environments. Core Competencies
