
Property Specialist-South

Job Summary
The Property Specialist will provide general maintenance services on Girl Scouts of Northern California camp properties, including grounds keeping, janitorial maintenance, pool maintenance, light carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and repair of recreational structures. Additionally, the specialist will support maintenance of campsites, facilities, vehicles, and equipment, ensuring a clean, safe, friendly, and welcoming camp site for members, volunteers, and staff.
Travel and Location This job requires travel to support multiple properties in San Jose, Pescadero, and Soquel, with a primary focus on the camp property in Arnold during summer. The Council provides a vehicle.
Critical Skills
Assist in opening/closing facilities for guests, including overnight stays or trips as planned with the Site Manager.
Oversee the use of the property and facilities, including check‑in, check‑out, and troubleshooting.
Ensure the safety and security of all site guests and camp participants.
Keep accurate records including timesheets, inventory, vehicle information, receipts, etc.

Job Accountabilities
Property Maintenance & Repair : perform ongoing facilities maintenance and repair services; conduct grounds keeping and landscaping duties; inspect buildings for health and safety hazards; provide support to all Council properties as assigned.
Janitorial Services : provide quality cleaning services, including garbage and recycling removal, sweeping, mopping, buffing floors, cleaning surfaces, and restocking supplies; order or purchase supplies as needed; assist guests with maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, moving furniture, or program set‑up.
Essential Qualifications
Minimum age: 18 years old.
High School diploma or GED.
2+ years of experience in general landscaping and property maintenance.
Ability to work independently and with the Site Manager to meet work plans.
Ability to assess site needs and use initiative to care for the property.
Ability to climb ladders without assistance.
Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience operating a tractor with grading blade.
Ability to use and repair hand and power tools.
Ability to clean using mop, broom, and other tools.
Ability to traverse rough terrain, work in high altitudes, and conduct work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Knowledge of safety procedures.
Experience in at least 2–3 trades (carpentry, construction, HVAC, painting, fencing, plumbing, electrical, mechanical) for maintaining buildings, grounds, utilities, vehicles, and water systems.
Ability to work some nights, weekends, and overnight stays as needed.
Ability to lift or move up to 30 lbs.; maneuver safely in rugged terrain, climb hills and ladders, work outside in inclement weather, and sustain activity above 5,000 ft.
Ability to meet Girl Scout background and verification standards; final candidates undergo a background investigation including criminal, education, SSN, licensing, and driving checks.
Desired Qualifications
Current California Driver’s license, valid auto insurance, and eligibility to be insured by the council auto policy carrier; daily vehicle access.
Knowledge of or experience in the Girl Scout Movement.
Bilingual or knowledge of other languages and cultures.
