Director of Composites

Responsibilities: Lead daily operations of the lamination department to ensure safety, quality, and production goals are achieved. Supervise department staff and coordinate activities with team leaders and supervisors. Work closely with manufacturing engineering to improve production processes and operational flow. Ensure production schedules are met through efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, and materials. Monitor production metrics and implement improvements to increase department efficiency. Maintain strong communication with other production managers, quality teams, and product development teams. Collaborate with upstream and downstream departments to ensure operational needs are met. Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed and maintained for equipment. Inspect production output to verify conformance to quality standards and specifications Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and operational goals. Lead employee performance management including training, development, evaluation, and discipline. Promote a culture of safety awareness and enforce safety standards across the department. Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend changes to production methods or equipment. Support strategic operational initiatives with the leadership team. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to coordinate departmental activities. Required Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience working with gelcoat, fiberglass lamination, or composite manufacturing processes. Experience leading teams and managing production staff in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of open and closed molding processes and composite manufacturing techniques. Experience implementing process improvements and efficiency initiatives. Understanding of quality systems and manufacturing standards. Ability to troubleshoot production or process issues and implement corrective actions. Strong communication skills with the ability to work across departments and organizational levels. Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills. Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis.
