We are currently seeking a Sales and Trading Assistant on our IS&T team who will perform a variety of administrative and sales support duties for the Senior Managing Director-Principal in the New York City office of Mesirow Financial. This position requires a wide range of administrative skills, knowledge of organizational policies and trading industry procedures. The role of the Sales and Trading Assistant, is to provide support to both the SMD/Principal of the NY Office as well as the sales/trading desk. Duties include and are not limited to, match and allocate trades on Bloomberg, setup and maintain accounts, occasionally enter trade tickets, data entry, reconciliation, report monitoring, and general non-trading related duties.
This role is 5 days a week from 7:30 to 4:30 in the office with an hour lunch.
Responsibilities:
Match and allocate trades in Bloomberg through SSMO
Communicate with Operations on any settlement issues
Assist the internal operations department and clients’ back office to resolve any settlement issues
Open and monitor new account setup by completing internal forms, notifying the DVP New Accounts Department, and follow up with client for additional information.
Obtain and maintain KYC documents
Work closely with sales & trading support team to ensure settlement of transactions
Field questions and resolve problems to ensure clients are serviced properly
Assist with other general office administrative tasks and a variety special projects, as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business or a business related degree such as Finance, Economics or Accounting
Series 7 and 63 preferred or ability to obtain upon joining the company
Fixed income experience - KYC Documents/Dealogic knowledge a plus
High proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly being able to build spreadsheets in Excel
Self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail
Superior communications skills, both oral and written; effective interpersonal skills
Familiarity with Bloomberg’s systems strongly desired
Ability to work well independently and also within a team environment
In accordance with the New York Pay Transparency Law the anticipated hiring base salary for the role will be between $50,000 and $75,000 per year. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, also provides the opportunity for a commission and discretionary performance bonus and the Mesirow benefit program.
