Job Summary for Director of Finance and Systems:
We are seeking a VP of Finance and Systems to oversee accounting operations while managing and optimizing the company’s financial systems within a construction environment. This role combines strong accounting leadership with ownership of financial technology, ensuring that accounting processes, job costing, and financial reporting are accurate, efficient, and supported by scalable systems.

This individual will play a key role in maintaining and improving the company’s accounting platform, Foundation Software, while supporting accounting operations and identifying opportunities for automation and process improvements. The ideal candidate has experience in construction accounting and enjoys improving financial operations through better systems, reporting, and technology.

Key Responsibilities of Director of Finance and Systems:

• Oversee accounting operations including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Lead the strategy, management, and optimization of financial systems supporting construction accounting processes
• Serve as the ERP system administrator, overseeing configuration, user access, security roles, and integrations
• Provide leadership and oversight of accounting workflows including accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, and project financial reporting
• Identify and implement automation opportunities such as monthly billing and certified payroll processes to increase efficiency
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial and project cost data across systems
• Enhance reporting capabilities for project performance, cost tracking, and financial analysis
• Partner with accounting, finance, and operations leadership to improve system utilization and financial visibility across projects
• Lead financial system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations with operational tools
• Oversee and support the month-end and year-end close process
• Develop and document system workflows and accounting procedures to improve consistency and scalability
• Maintain strong internal controls and support audit and compliance requirements
• Provide system troubleshooting, training, and support to accounting and operational users

Qualifications of Director of Finance and Systems:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 10+ years of accounting and finance experience, preferably within the construction industry
• Experience working with construction accounting systems, ideally Foundation or similar ERP platforms
• Experience as a system administrator or power user for ERP systems
• Strong understanding of construction accounting including job costing, project reporting, and WIP schedules
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and data analysis
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work cross-functionally with accounting, project management, and operations teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading ERP implementations or major system upgrades
• Familiarity with reporting tools or data visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
• Experience improving financial processes through automation or system enhancements

Work Environment for Director of Finance and Systems:

• Works closely with accounting, finance, project managers, and operations leadership
• Acts as a strategic bridge between accounting processes and financial systems
• Supports continuous improvement of financial operations and reporting within a construction-focused environment
