Job Summary:

The HR & Communications Specialist supports the Human Resources department and hospital leadership by coordinating internal HR communications, recruitment marketing, and general HR administrative functions. The position also assists with external marketing and communications efforts that promote the hospital’s services, workforce culture, and community engagement.

This role requires strong communication skills, organizational ability, and the capacity to balance marketing initiatives with HR operational support.

Reports to : HR Director | CEO

Hourly rate : $24.79 - $36.79 (posted hourly range is dependent upon licensure and excludes overtime and bonuses which are not guaranteed)

Essential Job Functions:

Recruitment Marketing and Candidate Communications

Develop and manage recruitment marketing efforts to attract qualified candidates and physicians. Draft and post job announcements on job boards, career websites, and social media platforms. Maintain and update the hospital’s career page and employer branding materials. Communicate with candidates during the recruitment process, including application follow-up and interview coordination. Assist with recruitment events including job fairs, career days, and community outreach initiatives. Full-cycle recruitment process which include extending offer letters, processing pre-employment screenings, onboarding and new hire orientation. HR Communications

Develop, draft, and distribute internal HR communications including policy updates, benefits information, employee announcements, and organizational messages. Maintain internal communication platforms such as employee newsletters, intranet content, and HR bulletins. Translate HR programs, policies, and initiatives into clear and accessible communications for employees. Support communication planning and messaging related to HR initiatives such as open enrollment, training programs, employee recognition, and workforce updates. Organizational Communications & Outreach Support

Assist with external communication initiatives that promote hospital services, programs, and workforce culture. Support public relations activities and community outreach efforts. Ensure messaging aligns with the hospital’s mission, values, and brand identity. HR Administrative Support

Provide administrative support to the Human Resources department. Maintain employee records and HR documentation in accordance with organizational policies. Support HR projects such as policy updates, employee engagement initiatives, and compliance documentation. Additional Duties

Assist with special projects and initiatives assigned by the HR Director or hospital leadership. Support employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and internal events. Provide administrative assistance with HR reporting, documentation, and records management. Assist with updating HR forms, templates, and communication materials. Help coordinate community events, recruitment campaigns, and organizational outreach initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned to support the Human Resources department and hospital operations. Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Related experience in lieu of degree will be considered.

Certification, Licensure: Current BLS certification required. Can be obtained after hire date.

Experience, Knowledge and Training: Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in human resources, communications, marketing, or related field preferred.

Experience in recruitment support, marketing communications, or employer branding preferred. Healthcare or hospital experience preferred but not required. SHRM-CP or PHR preferred but not required. Other skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools. Familiarity with social media platforms and website content management preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive HR information with discretion.

Physical Requirements:

Requires reaching, grasping, handling, and/or feeling five (5) or more hours per day in order to record data, operate computer/word processing equipment, etc.; visual acuity to maintain various records/reports, prepare forms, utilize automated processes, comprehension of written instructions, etc.; audio acuity to respond to requests, instruction and questions.

Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures

Exposure to environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infections/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary.

ASH IMMUNIZATIONS AND VACCINATIONS REQUIREMENTS– Aligns with CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Healthcare Personnel

Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals

Influenza- documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year)

Measles, Mumps, and Rubella - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination

Varicella (chickenpox) - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine

Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) - documented proof of immunization

Tuberculosis Screening - Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months
