Teradyne’s Integrated System Test (IST) division designs complex electro-mechanical test equipment for critical next generation technology. We’re looking for a Technical Writer to transform evolving engineering and factory knowledge into clear, structured documentation that helps customers and internal teams install, operate, maintain, and service our systems.
Location North Reading, Massachusetts
On-site role with limited flexibility for remote days
Qualifications Proven ability to write clear, concise text about complex technical topics (samples required)
Proficiency with industry-standard technical writing software (MadCap Flare preferred)
Experience photographing technical equipment and/or creating clear explanatory visuals
Confidence documenting procedures on-the-fly in a prototype lab environment
Experience following a style guide and producing consistent, structured content
Able to manage multiple documentation requests and meet deadlines in a fast-changing prototype environment
Desire to work with diverse team members in our local factory and across the world
Understanding of Git-based version control software (nice to have)
Education and Experience 0-3 years experience
Demonstrated interest in technical writing
BA/BS degree in technical writing/communications/English or similar fields
Responsibilities Write and maintain installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair procedures for new and existing products
Reorganize, edit, and update manuals, notices, and technical bulletins to improve clarity, findability, and accuracy
Collect raw technical information from multiple sources and compile it into clear and accurate overviews
Identify and interview subject matter experts across hardware, software, and robotics to close knowledge gaps quickly
Coordinate cross-functional discussions to address urgent factory or customer issues
Advocate for technical writing best practices while reviewing and peer editing documents
Participate in required meetings, including some held outside of typical work hours to accommodate our international team
Travel expectations are less than 5% of work requirements
