Job Description:
The Community Liaison – Harm Reduction and Rescue Specialist provides community-based outreach, overdose prevention education, crisis response support, and resource navigation services to individuals impacted by substance use disorders. This role builds relationships with community partners and connects individuals to treatment, recovery services, and social supports. Services are delivered using trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approaches and in alignment with Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) standards and Valle del Sol’s mission to provide culturally responsive care.
Job Qualifications: Education Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Preferred:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, public health, social services, or related field
Experience Required:
Experience working with vulnerable or underserved populations such as individuals experiencing substance use disorders, behavioral health challenges, homelessness, or other complex social needs
OR
relevant education/training in behavioral health, public health, social services, or community outreach.
Experience providing community-based support, outreach, peer support, case management, crisis support, or similar services
OR
demonstrated ability to engage individuals in community settings.
Preferred:
Experience providing harm reduction services, overdose prevention education, or naloxone distribution.
Experience conducting street outreach, mobile outreach, or homeless outreach.
Experience working in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, behavioral health services, or recovery support programs.
Familiarity with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP), and recovery support services.
Knowledge of Arizona behavioral health systems, AHCCCS requirements, and community resource networks.
Experience collaborating with community partners such as shelters, hospitals, first responders, or social service providers.
Experience working in grant-funded programs or public health initiatives related to overdose prevention or substance use services.
Licensure/Certification Required:
CPR/First Aid certification and naloxone administration training (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Valid Arizona driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Arizona Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card
Preferred:
Peer/Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS)
Community Health Worker (CHW)
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Other relevant behavioral health or outreach credential
Other Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to pass pre- and continued employment screenings successfully.
