Experience Architect, Transportation (Canada / Remote)
Position Overview
Autodesk is seeking an Experience Architect to lead experience design for infrastructure and transportation workflows. This role operates as an individual contributor and serves as a strategic partner to senior design and product leadership, shaping how infrastructure design workflows function across products, platforms, and services.
You will be the company’s recognized expert in infrastructure experience design, working across Civil 3D, Revit, Forma, ReCap and related platform capabilities. Your work will focus on complex, cross-product workflows such as corridor-based design, alignments, grading, surfaces, geolocation, and data interoperability, where continuity of intent and data is critical.
This role requires deep collaboration with Engineering and Platform teams. You are expected to bring strong front-end and data-model fluency, enabling you to reason about APIs, state management, performance constraints, and AEC data model aligned data structures as part of experience definition. You will help ensure that experience strategy is grounded in how systems actually work, not just how they appear.
This role addresses problems that span multiple teams and organizations. You will partner closely with senior UX and engineering leadership as well as infrastructure product leaders to frame long-term experience strategy, identify systemic friction, and define experience models that guide execution across teams. You will operate with a high degree of independence and authority, influencing roadmaps, technical decisions, and design direction without direct line management.
As an Experience Architect, you will balance strategic leadership with hands‑on contribution. You will create experience frameworks, models, and reference designs that enable teams to deliver coherent infrastructure workflows, including the responsible integration of AI to support engineering judgment across planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects. Your impact is measured by improved workflow continuity, clearer decision points, reduced systemic friction, and progress against Autodesk’s infrastructure and AI strategy.
Responsibilities
Own experience architecture for infrastructure and transportation workflows across products and platforms
Partner with senior UX, Product, and Engineering leaders on infrastructure strategy and prioritization
Frame complex, cross-product problems in ways that support sound organizational and technical decisions
Apply front-end and data-model expertise to ensure experience strategy is feasible, scalable, and durable
Identify systemic workflow, interoperability, and data consistency issues and drive alignment on solutions
Influence product and platform roadmaps through clear articulation of user intent, constraints, and tradeoffs
Guide integration of AI into infrastructure workflows in ways that augment engineering decision-making
Act as a reference point and mentor for senior designers and architects across infrastructure teams
Represent infrastructure experience architecture in senior and executive-level forums
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of experience in UX or experience design for complex, technical systems
Demonstrated impact on large-scale, cross-product or platform initiatives
Deep expertise in infrastructure, civil engineering, or similarly complex domains
Strong working knowledge of front-end architecture, data models, and API-driven systems
Proven ability to influence strategy, prioritization, and decisions without formal authorityAbility to operate effectively in ambiguous, high-stakes problem spaces Preferred Qualifications
Experience with transportation or civil engineering software and workflows
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ReCap, Forma, Revit, or similar platforms
Experience designing interoperability-heavy, data-driven, or AI-assisted systems
Comfort collaborating with engineering on architecture, performance, and scalability
Track record of mentoring senior designers and shaping experience practice at scale
