As a Vice President in the Lending and Balance Transfer team within the Portfolio Credit Risk Strategy group, you will have direct ownership and accountability for a defined group of portfolio risk strategies. You will focus on managing credit losses and profitability through balance transfer and new lending initiatives, portfolio pricing, and marketing eligibility. This role offers the opportunity to optimize segmentation, targeting, performance, and decision profitability, while collaborating with cross-functional partners and presenting to senior management.

Job Responsibilities

Own and drive risk initiatives for balance transfer, portfolio marketing eligibility, and portfolio pricing strategies

Oversee eligibility rules, strategy segmentations, and financial assessments to ensure robust risk management

Develop and apply advanced statistical and mathematical models using SAS and SQL to analyze complex data sets

Identify and implement enhancements to existing strategies to improve financial performance and customer experience

Design, execute, and monitor Test vs. Control experiments to validate new strategies and ensure sound decision‑making

Communicate analytical findings and strategic recommendations effectively to senior management and stakeholders

Partner with business, execution, and technology teams to implement, validate, and monitor strategy performance

Ensure strong governance, documentation, and audit controls for all portfolio lending strategies

Develop and maintain comprehensive process controls, performing root cause analysis and recommending resolutions

Mentor and lead junior analysts, fostering innovation and analytical excellence

Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced, evolving environment

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

Minimum 5+ years of risk management or financial services experience

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline

Advanced proficiency in SAS and SQL for data analysis and strategy development

Strong statistical analysis and quantitative modeling skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management

Proven ability to partner across functions and make independent decisions

High attention to detail and results orientation, with demonstrated project leadership

Strong understanding of financial procedures, principles, and consumer lending

Creative thinker with disciplined analytic and problem‑solving skills

Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

Commitment to robust controls, governance, and process documentation

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field

Experience designing and executing Test vs. Control experiments in a financial services context

Demonstrated success in developing and optimizing credit risk strategies for consumer lending portfolios

Experience with portfolio pricing and marketing eligibility strategies

Strong mentoring and leadership skills, with a track record of developing junior talent

Familiarity with operational risk management and audit processes

Ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in risk strategy development
