Pay Range:

The pay range for this job is $65000 - $129225 annually; actual pay is dependent on experience and geographic location.

Position Overview The Designer will support the RRL men’s design team from initial concept approval through production. This role will have a strong focus on product design and product development across the knit category. A positive attitude and excitement for the brand are needed. The candidate will have to take initiative, embrace change, adapt to learning new concepts and procedures. Finally, the candidate needs to be extremely detail oriented with strong technical skills and understanding of garment construction.

Assist with preparation for all design meetings, board reviews, hand-offs, line reviews & showroom openings

Work with the head of men’s design to create inspirational design boards and sketches to convey design ideas

Research product ideas by compiling vintage protos, tear sheets, sketches, fabric swatches and trim inspiration that support the seasonal concept direction

Partner with head of men’s design to research new silhouettes, market trends, and develop innovative details appropriate to the concept, customer aesthetic and RRL heritage

Responsible for all technical sketches including all views and detailed layouts to capture the nuances of the model

Executes all sketch color-ups so they properly reflect the desired esthetic for the colorway and materials/trims

Responsible for creating all individual style stats that are used for line adoptions as well as ensuring the stats are updated throughout the seasonal process as changes are made.

Drive to deliver design hand offs by targeted dates and calendar milestones

Manage trim specs & ensure tech packs areup to date w/ trim ID#s in PLM

Attend all fittings and take notes for follow-up

Organize all electronic and physical design materials

Manage vintage and design library for the knit category

Assist with ad hoc projects and work with the creative team as requests arise

Travel as necessary for design inspiration, shopping for development and factory visits both domestically and internationally

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

Deep understanding of RRL’s iconic heritage and level of craftsmanship

Passion for authentic vintage with knowledge of historical sportswear, military, western and workwear references

Meticulous attention to washing techniques, patinas, and artisanal details that define timeless style

Progressive work experience in apparel design, with a focus on knits preferred

Proficient in flat sketching and color-ups

Strong understanding of garment construction

Working knowledge of pattern making

Design, color, and vintage aesthetic sensibility

Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously in order to help meet team deadlines

Strong communication and follow-up skills: verbal & written

Team player with strong interpersonal skills
