
CEOAS Student Outreach Ambassador

Position Summary
The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) is hiring three part‑time Student Outreach Ambassadors to help share what makes CEOAS and OSU such an exciting place to learn. Student Outreach Ambassadors represent CEOAS at recruitment, outreach, and student‑focused events. In this role, you’ll help welcome prospective students and families, support college presentations and campus tours, and assist with on‑ and off‑campus events that highlight CEOAS programs and opportunities. Most events take place mid‑September through mid‑June, with little to no work expected over the summer (except for limited work in the week or two before fall term).

Position Duties
Represent CEOAS at recruitment, outreach, and engagement events
Share your personal experience as a CEOAS and OSU student with prospective students and families
Talk about CEOAS majors, student opportunities, and campus life
Assist with presentations, campus tours, and special events
Serve as a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional representative of the undergraduate experience in CEOAS
Eligible Candidates
Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program
Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Required Qualifications
Must be a CEOAS major (Climate Science, Geography & Geospatial Science, Geology, Environmental Sciences, or Oceanography)
Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
Ability to communicate in a professional, positive, and friendly manner
Ability to present the positive attributes of OSU and CEOAS programs
Demonstrated dependability, punctuality, adaptability, and ability to work in a team
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Must have attended OSU for at least 3 terms (current term included) and have at least one year remaining at OSU
Ability to work during the week prior to fall term start and during spring break
Availability to work in Corvallis during fall, winter, and spring terms
Strong listening, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
Self‑initiative, confidence, and reliability
Experience with Microsoft Office
Compensation and Working Hours Position Appointment Percent: 100% | Appointment Basis: 12 | Pay Method: Hourly | Pay Period: 16th – 15th of the following month | Pay Date: Last working day of the month | Min Hourly Rate: $15.05 (Standard); $14.05 (Non‑Urban); $16.30 (Portland Metro) | Max Hourly Rate: $21.50 (Standard); $21.00 (Non‑Urban); $22.00 (Portland Metro)
Security and Background Requirements This position is designated as a critical or security‑sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576‑055‑0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self‑report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years. OSU will conduct a review of the National Sex Offender Public website prior to hire.
