The Department of Housing and Department of Residence Life are newly-formed Cleveland State University departments previously managed by an outside vendor. This shift to internal departments has been designed to better support our students and enhance the overall residential experience. By building a dedicated team of housing professionals within CSU , the University aims to strengthen services that promote student matriculation, engagement, and long-term success.
These Housing and Residence Life roles will primarily support on-campus first year students residing in the newly-renovated Fenn Tower and second year students in Euclid Commons. These buildings are a home-away-from-home for over 1000 students and provide them with the opportunity for personal growth and the traditional on-campus university experience. With goals of encouraging a safe and healthy environment to live and learn, the Department of Housing and the Department of Residence Life will support students in their pursuit of a degree while encouraging them to take advantage of campus and Cleveland amenities available to residential students.

Job Summary
Manages the operations of Cleveland State University ( CSU ) Housing Department, fostering a residential environment that supports student success, safety, engaged learning, respect, and wellness. Develops and executes short- and long-term strategies for occupancy, residential transitions, and property maintenance. Oversees departmental budgets and allocates resources. Carries out departmental goals, policies, procedures, and standards. Maintains efficient systems to ensure timely and responsive communication regarding policies, housing assignments, facilities, and general assistance. Collaborates with CSU Student Success and Belonging to support the overall health, well-being, and success of residential students. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferably in business administration, student affairs, public administration, facilities management, or related field.
Four (4) years of experience in a related, complex, self-supporting, or for-profit business environment, of which two (2) of the four (4) years are supervisory or leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferably in business administration, student affairs, public administration, facilities management, or related field.
Higher education management experience in self-supporting, revenue generating campus support services, and/or contracted services administration.
Experience in higher education student affairs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Strong project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to, follow through on initiatives and influence outcomes.
Skilled in strategic planning, budget management, and personnel supervision, and continuous quality improvement of operational processes.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from all backgrounds and at all levels of an organization.
Ability to think systemically, analyze complex issues, and develop practical, solution-oriented approaches.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, with the ability to both think strategically while successfully managing and improving daily operations.
Ability to negotiate and manage contractual agreements. Ability to manage consultants, contractors, financial resources, and clients.
Ability to evaluate and improve operational processes, develop policies, and implement effective business practices.

A team player who operates with transparency and fosters trust and collaboration within the organization.
Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and clearly communicate organizational changes and initiatives.
