Description of Role The Energy Markets Analyst Intern will perform macro analysis to identify target markets and emerging prospects for various energy storage applications, work with our origination team to evaluate use cases, and construct project models. Intern will also assist in analysis of operational assets to improve performance of existing battery energy storage systems.
The Intern may also be requested to assist with general administrative and management support functions to improve operations at Lightshift Energy. The ideal candidates for this position will have a strong quantitative mind.
Core responsibilities will include
Modeling project revenue and operations to use cases in different markets
Identifying and collecting electricity market data, building data pipelines
Reviewing and monitoring electricity market developments
Developing and maintaining databases for storage application analysis
Analyzing market data to identify opportunities
Working with the executive team on innovative approaches to storage development
Qualifications
Pursuing a degree in engineering, computer science, math, statistics, data science or related field from an accredited university
Experience with data management, analytics and coding (SQL, R, Python, Excel)
Knowledge and experience in the US energy industry
General understanding of energy storage services and applications
Location
Arlington, VA headquarters but may make exceptions for candidates finishing a degree program
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly compensation provided commensurate with experience
