Director of Finance - Permanent
We are seeking a Director of Finance to support the financial operations of a fast‑growing biotech company that develops and ships hardware products. This role will be responsible for building scalable financial processes, implementing modern financial systems, and partnering closely with engineering, operations, and supply chain teams.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience supporting a company that designs, manufactures, and ships hardware and understands the financial dynamics of physical products, including unit economics, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing scale. This is a highly technical role requiring someone who is systems‑savvy, analytical, and comfortable implementing fintech tools in a fast‑moving environment.
This role reports to the CFO and will work cross‑functionally across the organization.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range financial planning
Build financial models supporting hardware product development and manufacturing scale
Analyze product margins, manufacturing costs, and hardware unit economics
Operational Finance
Partner with engineering, supply chain, and operations teams to understand and optimize hardware cost structures
Support pricing strategy and product margin analysis
Develop financial frameworks for scaling hardware production and inventory management
Financial Systems & Infrastructure
Implement and optimize modern fintech finance tools and automation
Own financial systems architecture and integrations
Improve reporting and financial visibility across the organization
Reporting & Leadership Support
Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for leadership
Develop KPIs and dashboards that track hardware performance and financial health
Support board reporting and strategic planning
Process Development
Build scalable finance processes as the company grows
Identify opportunities to automate workflows and improve financial reporting accuracy
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
7–10 years of progressive finance experience
Direct experience supporting a company that designs, manufactures, or ships hardware products (required)
Strong understanding of hardware cost structures, COGS, and unit economics
Experience implementing or working with modern fintech finance software
Highly tech‑savvy with strong systems thinking
Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in biotech, life sciences, or medical device
Experience with Ramp (corporate spend management)
Experience with Gusto (payroll/HR platform)
Experience working in a venture‑backed or high‑growth company
