
Police Chief

The Town of Weathersfield, Vermont seeks an experienced, community-focused law enforcement professional to serve as Police Chief. The Chief serves as the administrative and operational head of the department and reports directly to the Town Manager. Responsibilities include departmental leadership, supervision of sworn personnel, budgeting, policy development, community engagement, and strategic planning.
Weathersfield is currently evaluating long-term public safety models and may explore a regional policing framework with neighboring towns. The selected candidate must be comfortable participating in regional discussions and evaluating collaborative service models.
Qualifications Vermont Level III Law Enforcement Certification (or ability to obtain reciprocity), progressive law enforcement leadership experience, strong administrative and supervisory skills, knowledge of municipal budgeting and operations, and excellent communication abilities. Experience in small-town or rural policing environments preferred. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
Compensation Salary up to $100,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus comprehensive municipal benefits.
