Salary: $220,000-250,000

We are seeking a high-caliber Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to lead the public company readiness efforts. This is a strategic, high-visibility seat responsible for architecting global accounting policies, leading a distributed team, and ensuring the integrity of our financial narrative as we prepare for the public markets.
Key Responsibilities Public Readiness & SEC Reporting
IPO Path:
Drive "Public Company Readiness" by preparing initial filings, building scalable disclosure processes, and establishing a robust SOX compliance environment.
Reporting Framework:
Design and execute end-to-end disclosure preparation processes; lead the preparation of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K.
Governance:
Establish and oversee a cross-functional Disclosure Committee, coordinating reviews with external auditors, legal counsel, and Investor Relations.
Board Engagement:
Lead the preparation of decks and reporting for the Management Board, Audit Committee, and Board of Directors.
Technical Accounting & Policy Leadership
SME Guidance:
Serve as the global subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, ensuring consistent application across international jurisdictions.
Complex Transactions:
Own the accounting for high-judgment areas including
Revenue Recognition, Stock-Based Compensation (SBC), Business Combinations (ASC 805), and Leases (ASC 842).
M&A Support:
Provide due diligence, purchase accounting, and post-acquisition integration support for global targets.
Research & Memos:
Research and author formal technical accounting position memos for significant policies and newly issued pronouncements.
Operational Excellence & Partnership
Cross-Functional Advisory:
Partner with Product, Legal, and Finance teams to evaluate the accounting implications of new business initiatives.
Audit Management:
Assist with PCAOB audits, serving as the primary lead for technical workpapers and auditor inquiries.
Team Leadership:
Manage and mentor a globally distributed Technical Accounting team, fostering a culture of precision and automation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance;
Active CPA license is required.
15+ years of progressive experience, featuring a mix of Big 4 Audit and leadership in a public filer’s technical accounting or SEC reporting function.
Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP research and drafting formal position memos. Some familiarity with
IFRS
is a plus.
Experience with
NetSuite
is highly desirable.
Direct experience with the
IPO process
or a National Office practice is a significant advantage.
Exceptional ability to "translate" complex technical concepts for non-finance stakeholders and executive leadership.
