Director of Division Operations provides leadership across project pursuit, preconstruction, and construction operations. This role serves as a primary point of contact for owners and design teams on significant project matters and has decision‑making authority for projects within their scope.

This position oversees projects from pursuit and preconstruction through construction and closeout, ensuring successful delivery aligned with corporate goals, financial performance, quality standards, and client satisfaction. The Director manages project teams, allocates company resources, and works closely with leadership to ensure projects are staffed and executed effectively. Travel may be required up to 50% of the time.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and business judgment on financial and profitability aspects of projects and maintain accountability for project success.

Oversee projects from beginning to end, including staffing, budgets, schedule performance, costs, and overall project progress.

Lead the preconstruction process from project pursuit through transition to construction operations.

Ensure effective turnover between preconstruction, project management, and field teams.

Work with the Division Vice President to implement staffing plans and assemble qualified project teams.

Monitor job cost reports and construction contingency to ensure projects are completed within budget.

Review project schedules and performance against established milestones.

Review change orders, RFIs, and project updates to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Lead owner–architect–contractor meetings and maintain strong communication with clients and stakeholders.

Implement and oversee quality assurance, quality control, and safety programs across projects.

Conduct site visits to monitor project performance and support teams in addressing challenges.

Ensure project closeout is completed with properly organized documentation.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.

7–15 years of project management experience in large commercial construction projects.

On‑site experience managing new construction and renovation of existing facilities.

Strong understanding of construction operations including project management, accounting, field operations, legal considerations, real estate, and design processes.

Advanced knowledge of budgeting, accounting, and procurement principles.

Thorough understanding of A/E/C industry terminology and procedures.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Project, P6, Procore, or equivalent.

Valid Driver’s License required.

Physical Demands and Working Environment: Environment: Work is performed primarily in an outdoor setting with exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, and travel from site to site.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and field environment; to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs. without assistance and greater than 50 lbs. with assistance; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
