Aquatic Director
The City of Chicopee’s Recreation Department is hiring an Aquatic Director who will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of all pools and staff. Must have ability to run in-service training for all staff. Supervise and schedule staff weekly schedules. Individuals are responsible for implementation of pool maintenance procedures. Individuals must be able to troubleshoot problems.
Employment Status:
Chapter 7 Ordinance, Non-Exempt, Seasonal(Hours As Needed/Varies)

*Dependent on park operating hours and scheduled activities
Certifications/Licenses Required:
American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric First Aid C.P.R./A.E.D., American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric C.P.R./AE.D., American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric First Aid, American Heart Association Basic First Aid, American Heart Association C.P.R. /A.E.D. and W.S.I.
Essential Duties
Ensures daily teaching schedules, employee hours, and reports any changes to Recreation Supervisor.
Ensures the daily pool chemical standards are being maintained.
Maintains the appearance and safety of the pool and all of its surrounding areas.
Handles all staff and patron grievances and addresses them to the Recreation Supervisor as needed.
Enforces all rules and regulations regarding staff and patrons while on duty.
Keeps up-to-date and organized records of all daily pool chemical standards, equipment and supplies.
Keeps accurate weekly time sheets, daily and weekly logs, and in-service training records. All paperwork turned in on time to the Recreation Supervisor.
Works as lifeguard if needed.
Responsible for daily opening and closing of pool, on time when on duty.
Assures the safety of all patrons.
Evaluates the performance of all staff members with Head Lifeguard and review evaluation with each member.

Qualifications
American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric First Aid C.P.R./A.E.D., American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric C.P.R./AE.D., American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric First Aid, American Heart Association Basic First Aid, American Heart Association C.P.R. /A.E.D. and W.S.I. – Required
Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License. – Preferred
1 year related experience in Head lifeguarding of pools or open water. – Preferred
General knowledge of pools, pool maintenance and customer service. – Preferred
College Degree, High School diploma or general education degree (GED). – Preferred
