Responsibilities
Help grow a team that works together to create a collaborative environment that promotes career growth, the production of high‑quality construction documents, client satisfaction, and acts as a safety net for each other.
Coordinate the work of Mechanical Engineers, EITs, and BIM Specialists with the balance of a multidisciplinary team throughout the entire project’s development.
Coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule.
Assume a support role in mechanical design for data center/mission‑critical projects.
Work with clients to understand their project specific requirements around reliability, growth increments, first cost versus life‑cycle costs, sustainability, construction schedules, and future flexibility.
Assist with providing detailed design and coordination with multidisciplinary team members.
Attend design meetings with other team members and assist with mechanical discussions.
Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines.
Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
Design support during construction including field observations, submittal & shop drawing review, Request for Information (RFI) support.
Perform other duties as needed.
Travel: Some travel to job sites or other HDR offices may be required, communicated in advance.
Preferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.
Successful completion of a minimum of 2 years of consulting engineering experience in the design of high‑reliability mechanical systems.
Take ownership of assignments and work both independently and as part of a large project team.
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture.
Previous Data Center/Mission Critical experience at an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm is desired.
Strong desire to stay current with the trends of the fast‑paced industry of mission‑critical.
Working knowledge of the following standards: Uptime Topology standards, ASHRAE TC 9.9, ASHRAE 90.4, and the ISO standards regarding PUE, CUE, and WUE.
Working knowledge of the following programs: Bluebeam Revu, AFT Fathom (or a similar piping analysis software), an HVAC loads program (IESVE Load Calculation Software knowledge preferred), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Working knowledge of Newforma Project Center and/or ProjectWise Document Management Software.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Strongly motivated and showing professional initiative.
Focused on client outcomes.
Working knowledge of current industry codes and standards.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Technical and specification writing skills.
NCEES Registration.
Preference given to local candidates.
Familiar with Revit BIM modeling.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software).

Active participation in industry organizations is encouraged. Participation in professional development seminars, courses, workshops, or conferences is encouraged and should be approved in advance of attendance.
Additional industry certifications are also encouraged such as Uptime ATD.
