Junior (1–3 years) Position Summary: We are seeking a Junior Structural Engineer / Structural Designer with 1–3 years of experience to support marine classification design work for cruise ship and vessel conversion projects. This role is highly technical and hands‑on, focused on structural calculations, FEM modeling, Class Rule interpretation, and drawing development. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, strong in technical problem‑solving, and comfortable learning marine engineering standards. This is not a project‑management role. The position is intended for an early‑career engineer or structural designer who enjoys technical work and wants to grow in marine structural engineering. Key Responsibilities: Perform classification structural design and rule‑based calculations for marine structures. Develop and update AutoCAD structural drawings. Conduct finite‑element analysis (FEM) using FEMAP (preferred). Interpret and apply Class Rules (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s, etc.) for compliance. Use Excel, Nauticus, RuleCalc, or similar tools to perform structural calculations and load assessments. Apply ship accelerations, wind criteria, and marine load cases in calculations and design work. Support senior engineers with documentation, calculation packages, and drawing reviews. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; OR equivalent technical experience as a structural designer. 1–3 years of experience in structural engineering, drafting, or marine structure design. Proficiency in AutoCAD. Strong Excel skills and experience with engineering calculation tools. FEM experience, preferably with FEMAP. Ability to interpret marine classification rules and structural standards. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Nauticus, RuleCalc, or similar rule‑based structural software. Prior exposure to ship structures, cruise ship conversions, or offshore structures. Understanding of global and local ship loadings, environmental criteria, and structural behavior. Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. High attention to detail and accuracy. Willingness to learn and work closely with senior engineers. Ability to work independently and within a technical team.
