
Flooring Estimator

We are looking for a Flooring Estimator to prepare accurate bids and project cost estimates for residential and commercial flooring projects in the Lenexa, Kansas area. This role supports a full-service flooring business that provides design consultation, material sourcing, and installation across products such as hardwood, carpet, tile, laminate, luxury vinyl, and related surfaces. The Estimator will work closely with customers, vendors, and internal teams to evaluate project scope, develop pricing, and help move projects from inquiry to contract. This position is best suited for someone who understands flooring materials, field measurements, takeoffs, and installation-related costing.
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed estimates for flooring and surface installation projects based on plans, site visits, measurements, and customer requirements
Review project scope for products such as hardwood, carpet, tile, laminate, luxury vinyl, natural stone, and related flooring materials
Perform takeoffs and calculate labor, material, and subcontractor costs for residential and light commercial work
Work with sales, design, and installation teams to confirm specifications, pricing, lead times, and project feasibility
Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain current material pricing and product availability
Identify scope gaps, change conditions, and cost risks before proposals are submitted
Maintain organized estimate files, bid documentation, and pricing records
Support customers and internal teams with revisions, clarifications, and updated pricing as project needs change
Help transition awarded jobs into operations with clear handoff notes on scope, materials, and budget assumptions
Requirements
3+ years of estimating experience in flooring, interiors, finish trades, or a closely related construction segment
Experience estimating projects involving hardwood, carpet, tile, laminate, luxury vinyl, or similar products
Ability to read plans, specifications, and field measurements and convert them into accurate cost estimates
Strong understanding of flooring installation methods, material yield, waste factors, and labor production
Comfortable working with vendors, subcontractors, and customers to confirm pricing and scope
Proficiency with estimating spreadsheets, proposal tools, and standard office software
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
Ability to manage multiple bids and priorities in a fast-paced environment
