Associate Technical Designer – Junior's Apparel

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Technical Designer to support our Juniors category. In this role, you will partner closely with the Technical Design Leader and Design Team to uphold fit, construction, and quality standards, ensuring a consistent and positive customer experience.

This position plays a key role in evaluating garment samples, participating in fit sessions, and maintaining accurate technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to balance design intent with production-ready execution.

Responsibilities

Participate in weekly fit sessions and assist in evaluating garment prototypes

Measure samples prior to fittings and take detailed notes during the fit process

Complete and distribute accurate fit reports post-fitting sessions

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate design intent into production-ready garments, balancing aesthetic and technical requirements

Recommend appropriate adjustments to specifications, patterns, and construction methods to enhance garment fit, balance, and overall quality

Maintain fit consistency across the Juniors category by applying standard grade rules aligned with customer or in-house guidelines

Ensure adherence to the Product Lifecycle Calendar, particularly with timely Garment Fit Approvals

Communicate daily with overseas offices and vendor partners to resolve fit and quality concerns and meet production timelines

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field

3-5 years of experience in technical design or apparel product development preferred

Strong understanding of garment construction, fit standards, and grading

Proficient in measurement techniques and interpreting technical specifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Experience with PLM systems and Adobe Illustrator is a plus

Hybrid Work Schedule 4 days a week in the office, 1 day work from home

New York Pay Rate $63,000 - $75,000 We strive to hire and nurture amazing talent. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to experience, specialized skills, and internal alignment.
