
Assistant Golf Professional

Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Head Golf Professional, the Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for assisting in the management, organization, and supervision of clubhouse operations and programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor safety of golf patrons.
Maintain golf shop inventory and driving range.
Coordinate food & beverage operation and golf course facility rentals.
Instruct golfers of different abilities and ages through group and private golf lessons.
Promote a positive learning environment to help promote the game and district facilities.
Optimize traditional and alternative revenue sources available for golf programming objectives.
Prepare records regarding golf course programs, equipment, facilities, and participation.
Prepare operational records detailing attendance, waitlists, demographics, specific trends, and other metrics.
Assist in developing a variety of golf programming.
Assist in managing the season reserved tee time program.
Demonstrate and support district customer service standards.
Assist Head Professional with managing the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Speak to and participate in local groups and organizations to build positive rapport between the District and the community.
Assist related staff with duties as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles, theory, and philosophy of a golf services profession including knowledge of the development and operation of golf courses and facilities.
Knowledge of the food and hospitality business.
Experience with cash handling.
Ability to display professionalism with patrons.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to address complaints and resolve concerns.
Working knowledge of basic computer software including Microsoft platform; ability to learn point of sale software.
Ability to multitask, organize, and maintain attention to detail; ability to prioritize and handle a variety of different tasks at the same time.
Education and Experience
Associate's degree in Business, Recreation and Park Administration, Golf Course Management, or related field.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in golf instruction, operation, and tournaments, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver's license.
Member or Apprentice in good standing with PGA.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, First Aid, CPR, and AED certification within two (2) months of hire.
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) within three (3) months of hire.
Special Considerations
Must be at least 21 years old.
Subject to both office and outside environmental conditions.
Subject to modified/flexible work schedules during high volume work periods.
Ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing ≤ 30 lbs on a daily basis; lifting assistance is required when lifting > 30 lbs.
Ability to travel to and work at all Naperville Park District facilities.Regular onsite attendance is an essential function of this position.
